Amen, amen, amen!  The most frequent incidence like this that I see is that
the hospital lab flags all CBC's based on adult values....so any young infant
unlucky enough to get a CBC has results flagged as "low" when they are in
fact in the normal range......not so much a problem with our peds and
med-peds residents, who know where to look for the real info, but with
off-service rotators, who immediately reach for the script pad, instead of a
more reliable reference.
