Hi Laurie,
What comes to my mind as I read your case is the mom's assumption that the
baby is only getting 1-2 oz from her at a feeding because her breast don't
feel drained and she can still get more milk if she pumps them. Along with
this she describes the baby "biting" at breast during feedings.
These both sound like over production and I wonder when you do have a visit
it with her that you could observe the baby's suck/swallow. Many babies will
bite to stop a fast flow and moms will have creases on the end of their
nipples from the babies compressing so hard between their tongue and palate.
The first thing that would help you and this mom is to see her, then let us
know.
Hope she will take you up on the visit.
