I've had no response, other than a request to share what I learn, so I'm
reposting the following:
>>An archive search shows that Drs. Newman and Hale disagreed about the
safety (and efficacy) of 5-hydroxytryptophan for breastfeeding mothers, but
the messages were over two years old. Is there any more recent information
or opinion?
A web search indicates that this substance is a cure-all! The mother who
seems desperate for a medical opinion is nursing an 8-month-old and wants to
use it for depression. She would like to talk directly to an "expert" both
about its safety and appropriate dosages.
Any takers?
TIA
