So sad to lack time to be active on lactnet, but I must respond to the
breastfeeding after general anesthesia issue.  We had the same issue.  I
spoke with the head of the Anesthesia department and explained that there was
no reason.  One good argument that had impact was to tell him that anesthesia
doesn't last long or people would not awaken so quickly.  The best investment
however was to purchase a copy of Tom Hale's book and give it to him.  We
have not had the problem since.
