Whether to drink non-pasteurished apple or other juices is a personal
decision based on knowledge of the source and its cleanliness. Apples
off the ground are a problem. Food poisoning or a even a virus could
cause a bad case of the runs.

However, anything that causes diarrhea in the nursing mother is of grave
concern. Almost 25 years ago when my nursing my 6 month old youngest
daughter, I got a some sort of bug that presented as unrelenting
diarrhea.

I went to our family osteopathic physician and he prescribed something--
bentonite clay tablets to be taken all day long between meals, 5 times a
day. The diarrhea quickly subsided (could have been self-limiting also)
and I was busy with two little ones so I didn't bother to call his
office
again or make a followup appointment.

He personally called a the end of the week and asked if I was better.
I assured him I was and would have called to come in again had I not
recovered.

Once relieved, he read me the riot act for not calling in. He told me
that as a nursing mother giving off fluids: urine, feces and breast
milk,
I was in grave danger of becoming excessively dehydrated and having my
electrolites out of balance. I had been on his mind as being in danger.

Thought others would want to know this.
