To add to Diane Wiessinger's excellent comments on feeding frequency and how
she works with Mums who are trying to delay feeds:
My little ruse is to suggest to the mother how amazing it is that her
baby is going a whole 2 hours (or 30 minutes, or whatever) between feeds,
"so soon" after birth, when up till birth s/he was on continuous feed
through the umbilical cord and also able to take little practice sips of
amniotic fluid at any time. "Isn't your baby amazing to go so long!" I say.
It puts a new slant on the same situation. Suddenly, the frequent feeding
is not seen as a negative, but as amazing progress from the prenatal stage.
I usually package this with other comments about how clever newborns are and
what they can do (all evidence-based). For instance, recognising voices
from what they heard in utero, recognising the mother's smell, and so on.
So the mother sees her baby as clever, not a slow learner who won't conform
to perceived patterns.
I hope this helps someone.

PS. I am going NOMAIL today, after enjoying being on Lactnet lately.
