Yes, we do have more successes than not, and I have to do tally marks once
in a while just to remember this. Those "perceived failures" really loom
large though.
I had a lift yesterday. One of my "perceived failures" called to say that
her baby is fully feeding at the breast and has been for 3 weeks. She
didn't want to call until she was sure that it was a done deal. I
enthusiastically congratulated her.
When I bid farewell to those who have decided to pump and feed HM in a
bottle or to use a shield permanently, I tell them that if they invite
their babies to the breast regularly, they might latch on and love it. I
love the calls that tell me that it worked.
