I am in the process of updating our competencies and would like some
input regarding "essential" stuff. Our local affiliate (no names here,
we have 3 in chicago) has information from one suburban hospital whose
LC trains the nurses in the use of Clearsite, the Evert-it and SNS, in
addition to the usual hand pump, electric pump(s), breast shells etc. In
my inner-city, 3600 birth per year hospital, this information might not
be used since most moms go home so soon and they come back to see ME,
the LC. Not a post partum nurse. I am also curious about the Evert It.
They are pretty expensive for single patient use. Comments???? It is
always fun to give early morning inservices when half the night nurses
are falling asleep........
