Lots of hospitals more enlightened than mine have policies for keeping
moms/babies together. I hope others will answer you on that. I just wanted
to add that I think these mothers would almost always need a helper. As
compared to a c-section surgery, other surgery usually involves general
anesthesia, pain medications, the pt may be nauseated etc. So I wouldn't
expect these moms to care for the baby alone.
