I would endorse all of the comments so far about frequently changed dry
dressings being appropriate for dressing breast incisions while still
draining milk. I have however known a couple of Mums who had copious amounts
of milk drain for prolonged periods (months). I found using a small (infant)
colostomy or ileostomy bag attached to some duoderm (cut to fit around the
incision) increased comfort (mum not constantly wet) and decreased damage to
surrounding skin (as bags could either be just emptied at the bottom or when
changed would be attached and detached to the duoderm , not the breast
itself). No need to pump and dump.
