Hi Laurie, My first impression is that this baby is of course not nursing
effectively because he is not nursing enough. He is learning to EFFECTIVELY
suck on a bottle nipple not suckle. Obviously there was a problem with latch
or suck or both from the beginning but whether or not this would continue and
progress again to the nipple trauma remains to be seen. Is this what the Mom
is afraid of? If she is truly content with the pump and feed routine then why
is she calling you? I would suggest that she try nursing exclusively for a
trial period, say a day, then reevaluate, but if she is truly reluctant to
evolve, then I'm not sure what any of us can do for her.
