Rob,
You are right about the SNS.  I don't recommend it often to clients.  It
takes a highly motivated mother to use it
especially if we're talking about more than a few days.  Most mothers
dislike the method and give it up quickly.
I basically like to use the SNS in cases where the mother wants to
partially or fully relactate and the baby is willing and able to latch.
It isn't useful in my opinion when the babies are nipple confused and
fight at the breast.  I know some LCs recommend it for small/premature
babies but again I don't think it works all that well.
