Apparently Alaska is still behind Texas!
In Austin and Dallas, the induction rate is about 90%!
The reasons are the same "social inductions" that
Terriann and Marie stated. A few years ago in Austin,
a patient discussed the pressure she received from the physician and the
office nurse.
It was downright threatening, to the point she felt that her care would be
comprimised if she did not acquiesce.
Even worse is the physicians who use the vacuum extraction so they do not
have to wait for the mom to push.
Their only concern is the mother does not feel it, so no problem RIGHT????
The effect on the baby is not considered.
If we could convince the American public of the value of the Mother Friendly
Initiative, which would include Baby Friendly, this horrid trend would
reverse. My breath is not held..........
