Check definitions of mastitis, too, when comparing country to country
stats  - I recall reading an article about maternity care in the old
Soviet Union, and it seemed from the stats that there were huge
numbers of 'breast abscess'. It turned out that their definition of
an abscess was what we would call blocked duct or mastitis.

It may be that some places equate 'engorgement' with 'mastitis',
which might explain the high incidence of mastitis 4 days pp.

Anywhere that schedules or restricts feeding in anyway by separating
mothers and babies is bound to have a high incidence of mastitis,
engorgement, or problems generally, though.
