Dear Worldwide Braintrust,
I have been asked to provide some research to support the fact that vacuum
extractions hinder breastfeeding (not to mention other undesirable side
effects).  I work in a small hospital and the floor nurses and OBs are (to
be kind...) curious to see support for my apparently inflammatory remarks
casting aspursions on this most beloved practice.  I wish I could quotes
percents but high epidural/pitocin rates and a pretty frequent use of
vacuums.  I haven't had time to determine these rates 'cause I'm so busy
helping these families try to BF.

I have looked in the archives and found tons of anecdotal support but no
studies mentioned. I can site the FDA cautionary statement but I'd like
more.  Any assist?
