All three of my exclusively breast fed babies demonstrated similar weight
gain in the first 6 months but then went on to gain much less over the next 6
months and came down from the high 90s percentiles on their growth charts to
around the 75th by 1 year. They are now, incidentally, pretty average at 6,12
and 15 yrs of age. THEY fed relatively infrequently, however, 6-8x/day.

Spits up how much? Is the baby irritable? Could this be reflux and the baby
is using the frequent feeding as comfort/pain relief ? I think this pattern
may occur in particular with the "blind" refluxer , whereby the baby is
constantly refluxing, irritating the esophagus but only some actually "comes
out". The laying flat may explain the increased frequency at night. Less
likely with increasing age, may improve with solids.

Babies don't have "colds" for 3 months, this could indicate allergies or
reflux, again.
In other words, the weight gain MIGHT be very normal, it depends on what is
driving the frequency of feeds.
