In the hospital where I work, I am functioning solely in the Lactation
Consultant role, in the fullest sense. I job share with another LC and we do
bedside rounds, staff education, prenatal classes, warm line,
consultations/collaborate w/ the docs (some even tell their pts to talk to us
when they call with certain problems!!). We wear "nice" clothes with a long
lab coat over it. The staff all wear scrubs. When we teach, we dress
professionally and do not wear the coat.
