You are probably not missing anything, it is the doctor who is missing
something.  Having a brain tumour, in itself, is no reason to wean.  If the
mother is going to have surgery, she can nurse, if she wants, as soon after
the operation as she wants and is up to it.

Chemotherapeutic agents might be a whole different question, but *not*
radiation.  But they probably wouldn't know what other measures, if any,
they would need to use until they have a pathologic diagnosis of the tumour.
