Hi Everyone.

A lactation consultant friend told me that my name (Yvonne Foreman) has
been mentioned on this site. I was involved with La Leche League for many
years, becoming a leader in Madison Wisconsin in the early ‘60’s.

My name then was Yvonne Procuta. After I returned to New Zealand I was
involved in the early beginnings of LLLNZ and became the first National Co-
ordinator for LLLNZ a position I held for several years. Dr Walter (Watty)
Whittlestone, DSc. FRS was a world-renowned lactational physiologist who
was invited to serve on the LLLI Professional Advisory Board, which he did
until his premature death in 1985. He was a close friend and colleague.

Watty designed a physiological Breast Pump, which Morton Foreman and I took
to Chicago for the LLLI Convention in 1981. As some of you remember it
introduced several great innovations but it was too large, heavy, noisy and
just not suitable for home use. Later it was redesigned to be smaller.
Unfortunately, although we helped hundreds of NZ mums, particularly those
with medical problems, we couldn’t keep going and the whole thing went into
limbo.

I’m thrilled that a progressive American company has picked it up, remained
true to the physiological principles and has taken our somewhat Heath
Robinson affair into the new century.. My daughter-in-law used the new
much more attractive model, as have some other NZ mums, and all were
totally delighted with it. You can’t imagine what it means to me to see
the breast pump resurrected - I’m pretty excited.

I hope that answers some of your questions. Kiaora. Yvonne
