I have a hunch (no research, just musings from putting together the pieces of
client experiences), that it's possible that sexual abuse inhibits oxytocin
somehow.  I wonder if a) there could be accompanying opposing
hormones/chemical responses that negate the oxytocin, or b)oxytocin was
associated with such aversive experiences that the mind somehow inhibits it.
Somewhat like getting sick after eating a given food and forever thereafter
hating that food.

Debi, did your client happen to share any abuse history?
