Barbara M.'s baby who stopped spitting up once formula was intitiated does
present one of those paradoxes that make us want to pull out our hair. I
heard Dr. Armand Goldman say last Fall that evolution of diet has out-paced
evolution of our species. It's been a relatively short time since we began
processing food, and our diets have changed enormously in a very brief span
(in the grand scheme of things). He said he's seen situations where the
baby was very allergic to things in mother's diet, and sometimes these
babies did do enormously better once switched to formula. Not that formula
is better. Perhaps if mother is willing to do food elimination trials they
might get a handle on what the baby is reacting to.
