<I'm trying to find references that discuss thrush affecting baby's suck:
clicking or smacking sounds, difficult latch, noisy nursing. >
I don't think there is any hard research to say this. We have listed
"clicking sounds while breastfeeding" in a list in the LC Series Unit on
Candida - but this is really anecdotal. If there is an indication that
candida is causing the mother's pain, I tell mothers that when we treat the
baby for thrush it may improve his/her symptoms, but no guarantee. It would
be worth asking carefully if the mother has actually been treating the baby.
I do think it is a real pity that you don't have Daktarin oral gel in the US
as it works so much better than nystatin oral drops.

<Pump company tells her
nipple yeast makes them turn cyanotic while pumping. I can't find this
reference either.>
I agree, I think the pain of thrush can cause the nipples to become so
sensitive that they easily develop vasospasm. The main advice is to keep the
nipples warm, and not to "air" them after feeds.

<I guess all 1610 people except
the 2 who graciously responded privately are on vacation. >
Well I guess your sarcasm has worked, and elicited at least one response!
Some of us are not "on vacation" however, but are organising a conference
for more than 500 people next week.

PS We are currently revising the LC Series Unit. We would welcome any
feedback ;-)
