I've been having a little think about this...
You wonder whether it is detrimental for a woman to drink her own
breastmilk particularly as drinking your own urine or blood is.
Big differences here of course are that urine and blood aren't meant to be
drunk. A person's own blood returned to their blood stream (ie after major
surgery involving big blood losses) is beneficial. I doubt that urine
returned to the bladder would hurt the donor either (can't imagine why this
would be done!). Breastmilk is meant to go into the gastro intestinal
tract - therefore I don't think it would be deleterious at all.
I can't see the point in expressing your milk just to drink it, but if she
already has a big frozen supply which would otherwise be discarded I'm sure
it wouldn't hurt her or her family if she used it.
