Barb, way to go for doing such a great promoting breastfeeding! How
wonderful to have both Spanish and English speakers. Your story is
inspiring!
I'd like to share what our local community did for World Breastfeeding
Week. We held our Walk at the local college campus walk route. We had
plenty of water, fresh fruit, and energy bars donated by local grocery
stores.
Representatives from the Governor's Office and (NM) Congresswoman
Heather Wilson's office attended, and read a Proclamation signed by our
Gov.
Mothers, fathers, and children of all ages walked the route and enjoyed
healthy snacks afterward. There was face painting and several booths,
not to mention lots of breastfeeding babies, all enjoying their mother's
milk/
Families were encouraged to drop off their formula company gift packs
into a large trash can, which will be sent back to the company. In
exchange for the gift packs, moms received a baby T-shirt. All three
local television stations covered the week's activities.
We had a terrific turnout and the weather was perfect.
Heidi, in Albuquerque, already planning next year's walk.
