The publications include "Improving Breastfeeding Behaviors: Evidence from
Two Decades of Intervention Research," which is a review of 51 intervention
studies. There is a companion publication with detailed summaries of each
of the 51 studies. AED has also planned four additional research projects
to answer the question "What works?" These include a study of
mother-to-mother support with LLLI in Guatemala, a study of counseling
mothers on HIV transmission through breastfeeding with John Hopkins
University in Zimbabwe, a "positive deviance" approach with Save the
Children and Emory University in Vietnam, and a study of social marketing
of a micronutrient supplement to women of reproductive age with Population
Services International and PROSALUD in Bolivia.
