To my mind, LCs are health care professionals, part of the health care
team.  We can take orders, collaborate, share info  with, confer with,
develop care plans with ....doctors (gasp).  We can also give orders!!!!
They are really only suggestions, just as any other health care
professional's are only suggestions.  We are ordering/suggesting out of our
store of knowledge and information on a particular situation. Our
situations have to do with lactation.  We wouldn't step outside of those
boundries by telling a mom how to care for another medical condition unless
we are licensed to do  that.   The goal is always to  get clients to  their
optimal  level of functioning - whatever the health problem or concern may
