Mary, I recommend Jack Newmans All Purpose Nipple Ointment. (APNO)
I have used it with success when dealing with these "blebs", particularly
the recurring ones. I recommend applying lightly after each feeding or
pumping. I have the mother soak her nipple in an epsom salt solution (2 tsp
dissolved in 1 C of water) before feeding, then applying the APNO. She can
also open it with a sterile needle after soaking it in the ES solution.
Has she tried opening the skin over the pore? If she does that, the APNO
will prevent infection and can inhibit the re-growth of the skin. She
should use the ointment for several days to a week after the problem is
resolved.
If the APNO was described since you were on Lactnet, you can write to me
and I will give you the ingredients. It is compounded by a pharmacist.
