One of the posts expressed some qualms because the mom would be
pushing on the baby's head. If the position is being used
effectively, it's impossible to "push on the head". I always tell
moms with both c/c and football (clutch) to"support the head at the
neck - hands off the baby's head". I find that if mom even moves
one finger up on the head "for support" it may interfere with baby's
effective jaw placement. With c/c I have the mom place her fingers
further around (and under) the baby's neck WITHOUT moving up onto
the head if baby needs more support of the head. This is one
position where a good nursing pillow really shines (as long as mom's
belly isn't still so large the pillow places baby level with mom's
neck!).
