In reference to new mothers with "voice changes". Hypothyroidism is fairly
common in postpartum women and appears to be underdiagnosed. Changes in
voice can be a symptom of hypothyroidism. According to one reference, the
voice becomes "hoarse, husky or gravelly". Moms with this particular
problem may want to request a thyroid test from the health care provider.
