> 1) should she continue for another few days since it seems to be helping?
I think Jack means 7 days in a row, not 3 here and 3 there!

I personally think Nystatin gtts for baby's mouth have moved into the
useless category, waste of time and money, creates frustration in mom and
let's yeast get firmly established and resistent to tx !

> 3) why would gv work so well when diflucan and topicals combined did not?
See above re: nystatin, diflucan was probably underdosed for mom.
Hale says GV "far superior to nystatin in treating oral candidiasis in
patients with advanced AIDS."
Hale does say 0.5% once or twice daily for no more than 3 days. However
jack's directions are based on clinical use.

4) i searched the archives re: gentian violet and carcinogenicity -
Who is Phil? May be carcinogenic if you drink a quart a day or some such
nonsense. What does Dr. Hale say re: GV?

> 5) lastly - she was also told to water down the 1% gv to .05%
Seems to me it should be 0.5% not 0.05% which would be like purple water
and not do anything.

I'm very cranky this am :-( think I'll go back to bed and start over and
come back later :-) Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
