I have a mother who wishes to wean her 14 month old infant. She started to
wean the baby 2 weeks ago and was down to eliminating the last 2
breastfeedings per day when she developed a nasty case of mastitis.
She increased her breastfeedings by 3 per day during the course of the
disease and now wants to try the weaning process again. What do you think
of putting her on cabergoline 0.25mg Q 12hrs.times 4 doses? (the regular
protocol when lactation is established) Do you think this is the best TX.
given her history or would you wean her down without the drug?
Thanks
