My name is Jan Ellen Brown in Charlotte, NC and I am a retired LLL leader
and now hospital based IBCLC.
One red flag I saw in your letter is the continued diarrhea and slow
weight gain by this baby. This can certainly be the effects of a highly
allergic child but also a sign of a condition called cystic fibrosis.
My own daughter has CF and NEVER had colds, coughs etc. but had green,
foaming, mucousy stools from 5 months on. She was not diagnosed until she
was 3!!
I would not scare the mom about this but I would consider it a possible,
and sad, possible piece of the puzzle.
I am in between swim meets tonight but will be back later if you have
specific questions for me.
Jan Ellen Brown
