Regardinf the mom with cerebral palsy who developed seizures after delivery,
maybe this is a possibility to look into: A few years back moms were given
Parlodel (bromocriptine) to inhibit lactation but this was withdrawn from
the market for this use because of several lawsuits that said pts developed
seizures or had strokes while on this medication. They failed to
acknowledge the fact that sometimes the extreme push effort that some
mothers use causes them to have mini-strokes. So it was not necessarily the
medicine but the fact that they had developed complications during
childbirth. How many of us have seen moms with blood vessels burst in their
eyes or the small petechiae (small pinpoint bruises) develop after pushing
very hard (it seems like with their face). So maybe it was the pushing
effort that caused her to have seizures and evaluation by a neurologist
would be appropriate medical care for her to seek.
