LactNet members may want to have a look at this website originating
with a European formula manufacturer:
www.numico.nl/uk/news/2000/01.html
To quote its words:
"up to 50% of babies fed on infant formula suffer from minor digestive
problems, such as colic, cramps, flatulence and constipation".
By the way, are LactNet members expressing their views to their
respective Ministers of Health regarding use of the Internet for
promotion of breastmilk substitutes, bottles, teats -- all covered by
the International Code -- to the general public and mothers? This
issue, not foreseen when the Code was drafted in the late 1970s, may
come up in discussions and recommendations at the next World Health
Assembly, early in May.
