Our tiny rural hospital offers a weekly new mothers support group
which I run. It was originally intended for new mothers only, but since
we a have 2 full time stay at home dads, I decided it should be open to
both moms and dads. 98% of the babies who come are breast fed. I have
found the group is a great place for women who are shy about
breastfeeding in public to gently "get their feet wet". They also have
an opportunity to see other women comfortably nursing their babies and
even the shyest women eventually are comfortable enough to nurse at the
group.
Running this group has been the most rewarding part of my 22 year
nursing career. I love it so much I can't believe I actually get paid to
do it!
Sincerely,
Deborah in NH who is anxiously awaiting the IBCLE this july!
