Personally, i would have mom pump with an excellent pump or hand exp.
Finger feed baby with a tube in a bottle (like pix in Jack's JHL article),
then do as much skin to skin as mom can  manage and do rebathing- I'd
probably wait about a week before reattempting BF so as you say he can
forget why he was fussing at breast and supply has a chance to recover and
be fuller.  I'd try to only use breast milk in supplementer.  Sincerely,
