Hi! My name is Macey Gourde, I am a nursing student at the University of
North Dakota, enrolled in a course in which we have "expectant mom's." My
mom is 23 weeks, and would love to breastfeed, which of course, is great!
However, she has CP and has spastic hemiparesis on her left side. I have
researched the topic, and I am looking for any tips from your own
experience that I can give her, to aid her in having a positive and
successful breastfeeding experience. I was not able to find much of
anything for this situation, except the suggestions for the use of slings,
pillows, and nursing while lying down (Mohrbacher & Stock, 1997). I also
found an article on positioning in general for the
"normal" breastfeeding woman (Clinical Reference System, 1999). Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou,
Macey Gourde, College of Nursing Student, University of North Dakota.
