Fascinating report at ILCA Sun am on what is "normal." I just need to
clarify if they included info on whether or not mom had an IV. I think
one of the things we notice clinically is the mom who is "overhydrated" and
has a puffy sort of baby who seems to lose > 10%. They found a lower % as
"normal" weight loss. The major risk factor (for problems around
initiating BF) they found in this study that was reported was being a
primip :-) They made the statement that BF IS a learned art. I want to
get the tape and listen again. They found babies had 1 wet per day of life
plus one. so day 2 they'd expect 3, day 3 - 4 and so on. Poopy still
seemed to be a good indication that intake was good. The authors said the
data is so new that their computers are still hot from crunching the data
:-)
Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
