Have had two separate moms in the last two weeks present to me with the
question of is PTU (used for treatment of hyperthyroidism) compatible with
breastfeeding. Reading in all my sources, I say yes-- both tell me that
their docs say no. One has a pediatrician who insisted on her weaning the 2
month old abruptly to start meds ( I met her at a question and answer
session at the mall's Kid Fest days, so a total stranger to me, with this
adorable cutie who has gone cold turkey to formula); the other situation a
newly diagnosed Grave's disease mom who has an endocrinologist who won't
discuss this any further until she weans and who says there is new
information that says no to PTU ( the arrogance of this doc would have me
switch care givers regardless of the correctness of his information!).

Has anyone read anything new that goes against the resources we all have?
Thanks in advance.
