Catherine Fetherston has pointed out the Vogel et al article on mastitis in
Birth. The same study is also reported in:

Factors associated with the duration of breastfeeding.
Maybe Acta Paediatrica is easier to find for some people. The interesting
thing was that women who developed mastitis were more likely to breastfeed
for longer than women who didn't have mastitis. This probably relates to my
impression that women with mastitis are more likely to have plenty of milk.
(However, this doesn't justify the authors publishing the same research
twice.....)
