in situations where/when appropriately applicable (which is often as I work
with many early pp moms who have had much labor and birth intervention, and
later pp moms who did not start off well with bf), for gentle intermittent
compression and/or massage, I demo/return demo higher up on breast, not near
areola. If mom were to press near areola during feeding it may likely have
the same effect as the mom who presses on the breast to create an airway for
baby --> this action can pull the nipple to the front of the baby's mouth -->
consequently shallow latch --> may cause sore nipples, also less milk
transfer --> plugged ducts etc.............
