I am looking for documentation to help prove to a neonatologist that fluid shift does occur in babies.
We are working with a baby whose mother received mag sulph and lots of IV fluids prior to delivery. The baby has been breastfeeding and also been cupfed formula, stooling well and urinating well,However despite the caloric intake baby has lost 12 % of body weight,We feel it is because of the fluid shift however the neonatologist does not believe such a situation exists and needs documented proof.I have found one study that Marsha Walker recommended in Birth 1988 does anyone know of any other documentation that we could access to help this situation. I appreciate your input.
