Since the American diet tends to be deficient in all essential fatty acids, I
would assume we are deficient in DHA as well. I personally consider it wise
to take supplements of essential fatty acids, including DHA. There is a great
book on the market called "Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill" by Udo Erasmus.
Quite an eye opener--I highly recommend it.
