This sounds very reasonable to me. Just imagine what a day looks like for this
mom with pumping every three hours and two hosp visits, there's hardly any time
left to nap or eat. Perhaps mom could be suggested to make 1 large visit, that
includes 2 pumping sessions alongside the babies. This might enhance production.
Paula Meier reported great amount increases once mothers started to pump next to
the isolators instead of in anonther room.
I have seen good results in advsing moms to ''cluster pump'' (like cluster
feeding, what many babies do in late afternoon, early evening: pump short, but
soon after each other). It will boost production because of repeated stimilus
with short intervals and it might be easier to plan her day around. In this case
she might try a cluster session in the hours before bedtime and another one
prior to leaving for the hospital. Then stay in hospital long enough to have to
normal pumping sessions. Rest of the time pump after awakening and perhaps every
three hours during daytime, depending of timing of hosp visit and cluster
pumping sessions.
