Hi Laurie, As a VNA nurse, providing visits to new Moms and their babies in
the suburban Boston,Massachusetts area, I would be surprised to see a pedi in
this area admit a 6 do with a bili of 17, particularly in light of the fact
that there is no documented upward trend here (first bili-right?) and that
the bili can be explained in terms of the feeding issues which have now
resolved. Most would not hospitalize on day 6 unless the bili was 20 or
above. They would want to check it again in 24 hrs. to verify that the
downward trend, which may have already started since we don't have a prior
reading, is continuing.
