The National (USA) Library of Medicine has added a new encyclopedia to its website. http://medlineplus.adam.com/ency/article/002450.htm Unfortunately, the lactation section is weak and misleading.  It even has a section on side effects which includes things like "difficulty knowing how much the baby is drinking" and "frightened by conflicting emotions of enjoyment and resentment"

They do invite comments.
