Just an FYI, yesterday I saw a sweet baby boy growing at the upper end of
the scale, height and weight, some BF and mostly Nutramigen. The
Nutramigen is because early attempts to supp with Good Start and Alsoy
resulted in head to toe, NASTY, eczema, which is only just beginning to
improve at 3 3/4 mo. Mom had been to WIC who rec she start solids! I told
her that is the last thing I would do with this obvivously allergic baby!
I believe I convinced her, based on how well he is doing growth wise, and
how his eczema is a tad better, to avoid solids for the time being. Time
will tell, the social pressures to feed in the US are enormous. And as
Kathy said "the one size fits all" mentality reigns. Because (gasp) maybe
he will never learn to eat from a spoon if we don't start at 4 mo.:-(
Personally, I've found that babies and toddlers prefer fingers and most
adult seem to know how to eat in public with a fork or spoon :-)
Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
