Here we are looking to count again. When we count, there are often
inappropriate interventions.
As far as bowel movements are concerned, one useful bit of information is
that a baby who is doing well on breastmilk alone, will usually be having
bowel movements that are changing in colour by day 3, sometimes by day 2. A
baby who is still having meconium bowel movements at day 4 is in trouble.
This does not mean supplementation with formula, but it does mean help with
latching, compression, etc.
