Hi Lactnetters:

O.K. Its time to ask for help. With only 1½ weeks to go I am at a loss
how to stop a female NNP from taking a stipend from MEad Johnson to speak
to residents here at Texas Tech on the topic of "Breastfeeding in Low Birth
Weight Infants". I don't know her personally, but I do know the Pediatric
Dept. people that are bringing her. They do not have a good track record
of supporting breastfeeding, and I'll certainly send a letter of protest to
the head of the department and to her. In the letter I would like some very
hard facts about which organizations proscribe these practices and if she
is breaking any ethical standards of her profession (I am not a nurse).
Can any of you help me?

Actually I want to do more than a letter. Ideally I'd like to stop her from
talking unless she renounces the sponsorship. And, I'd like to threaten a
boycott of the talk (as suggsted by Barbara Wilson-Clay) but I'd probably
be the only one boycotting, and they'd be glad that I wasn't there to
disrupt the lecture....

P.S. When I asked the physican in charge of setting up these lectures
where she got the idea to ask this woman to do this lecture she told me
that she got the lead from the Mead Johnson pharmaceutical rep!!!!!! I
asked her to replace the lecture with one on Medical Ethics and she laughed
at me.
