A bili blanket is a clever little gizmo that wraps around the baby's chest
and applies light to front and back.  It can be done at home and baby's
eyes don't have to be covered and it definetely interferes less with BF.
Of course, as I said before, there needs to be adequate follow-up with a
vss nurse for daily bili's and weight checks.  Also FYI there is another
group of practitioners who believe that if a baby needs to be lit, then
that baby needs to be in the hospital.  Since we know that babies needing
lights are in the higher ranges ( not for a 12 or 15, but 20's +) there is
validity for this belief.  However, then hospitalization interferes with BF
and very few US hospitals provide for mom coming along with BF baby.  I've
only ever seen bili blankets used at home on babies I personally wouldn't
